Wallet safety
Seed phrases and scams
Your recovery phrase is your wallet. Learn the scams that target it and the one rule that defeats most of them.

The phrase is the wallet
A seed phrase, or recovery phrase, is the list of 12 to 24 words that can recreate your wallet on any device. Anyone who has it controls your funds. Crypto transactions generally cannot be reversed, so there is usually no way to get stolen funds back.
Write it down offline and keep it somewhere safe. Never store it in screenshots, email, chat messages or photo backups that sync to the cloud.
Nobody legitimate will ask for it
No real support agent, project team, airdrop or “wallet validation” site will ever need your recovery phrase. If anyone asks for it, that is the scam.
The US Federal Trade Commission warns that only scammers demand payment in crypto or guarantee profits, and that promises of free money are always fake. Watch for fake support accounts in your DMs, giveaways that ask you to “send first”, and investment advice from someone you only met online.
Fake contracts and lookalike links
Scammers launch fake tokens with familiar names and copy official websites down to the pixel. The $404 contract address has not been published. Any address you see before it is announced on @zec404 is not official.
Type important links yourself or use bookmarks. Do not trust links in replies, DMs or search ads.
